Kiruhura District is among the 19 Districts to pilot Uganda Women Enterprenuership Programme for the FY 2015/2016. The Programme will be implemented under Community Based Services Department in partnership with the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development. The programme which is a revolving payable after one year of grace period with interest free targets women between the age of 18 to 65 years. Women must form groups of 10 to 15 members in order to benefit from the programme. Groups are encouraged because they promote a culture of cooperation, joint venture initiatives and support for one another in development. This programme is one of the many government strategies aimed to reduce poverty among Ugandan citizens targeting women. Women are therefore encouraged to embrace it for their own well being and their families.
