KIRUHURA WOMAN MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT REWARDS THE BEST PLE PUPILS FOR KIRUHURA DISTRICT
Kiruhura Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Sheila Mwine Kabeije today handed over scholastic materials ranging from mattresses, bedsheets, blankets, books, pens, mathematical sets and suit cases to the best pupils who excelled in the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) 2016 in Kiruhura District. Based on the recently released PLE results, the Hon. Sheila Mwine recognised the best male and female in each of the 15sub counties & 3Town Councils in Kiruhura. Each individual pupil walked away with a mattress, a pair of bed sheets, a blanket, a suit case, 12 black books, a mathematical set, a dozen pens, and top of that girls had extra sanitary packages.
Hon. Sheila told parents, teachers and pupils that her office thought it wise to recognize the best pupils as a sign of instilling a culture of competition with the aim of promoting better education standards in Kiruhura District.
The Hon. Member of Parliament urged pupils to remain hard working, be disciplined, avoid peer pressure and be focused if they were to excel in life endeavours.
Hon. Sheila called on parents and the general community to always embrace government programmes because they are well intentioned to transform and steer up socio-economic development.
The function took place at Kiruhura District headquarters and attracted parents, teachers, Kiruhura District leaders who include among others District Chairperson Rev. Samuel Katugunda, Secretaries for Social Services and Works, Ag. DEO and Deputy Chief Administrative Officer.
