KIRUHURA DISTRICT COUNCIL APPROVED BUDGET FY 2016/2017
Kiruhura District Local Government Council in its 29th Council Session presided over by the District Speaker Kampikaho Charles passed Council budget estimates worth shs.20,599,538,000 for the Financial Year 2016/2017 in the Council Hall at the District Headquarters.
The District will spend 46.6% of the total budget estimates representing shs.9,600,767,000 on Education Department, followed by Production and Marketing taking 18.1% amounting to shs.3,735,271,000 and Roads and Technical Services Department accounting 8.5% worth shs.1,752,739,000.
According to Dan Mukago Rutetebya, Secretary for Finance, the biggest percentage of 89.9% will be support from Central Government transfers, 6.1% will be locally raised revenue and 3.9% donor funding.
The theme of the District Financial Year 2016/2017 budget is “Attaining a holistic sustainable development and poverty free communities”. This is in support with His Excellency the President of Uganda’s visionary theme of “Taking Uganda to modernity through job creation and inclusive development” through maintenance of national security and defence, accelerating infrastructure development, enhancement of science and technology, promoting production and productivity in agriculture among others.
