Council
The District Council which is the highest political authority in the district is currently comprised of 34 members and headed by a directly elected District Chairperson as the political head.

District Executive Committee
The District headed by the District Chairperson is comprised of 5 members namely: District Vice chairperson and Secretary for Finance (Finance, Administration Planning and Audit Departments), Secretary for social services (Education, Community Based Services and Health Sectors) Secretary for Works (Works and Technical Services), Secretary for Production (Production and Marketing and Natural Resources Departments).
